About Peter Killcommons

The founder and CEO of Medweb, a medical imaging company dedicated to philanthropy, Peter Killcommons, MD, draws on both his business expertise and his longstanding desire to do good in the world. Dr. Peter Killcommons has provided medical imagining technology and other supplies to civilian and military hospitals in locations as diverse as Peru, Afghanistan, and Kuwait.

Dr. Killcommons completed his undergraduate studies at the City College of New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Science, before going on to earn his Medical Doctorate cum laude from the New York Medical College in 1984. As a student, Dr. Killcommons participated in the Newman Club and served as Vice President of Student Affairs.

The San Francisco Chronicle featured Peter Killcommons, MD, on the front page of its business section in 1994, two years after he founded Medweb. Dr. Killcommons has received broad recognition for his seminal role in bringing medical imaging to the Internet. In the same year of the S.F. Chronicle feature, Medweb won Pacific Bell's California Research and Education Network (CalREN) grant, which funded the firm's project to link hospitals to each other. Through his work at the firm, Dr. Peter Killcommons has established Medweb as one of the preeminent integrated medical technology businesses in the world. He has also personally traveled to Afghanistan numerous times, where he financed a new well for a small village near Jalalabad.

Outside of his professional and philanthropic work with Medweb, Dr. Killcommons gives to organizations such as the American Red Cross, the World Cares Center, Fisher House Foundation, and Catholic Charities USA.
